When you think about it…
We have very little control of our life.
All we truly can control are our thoughts and actions.
Yet even these feel out of our control most of the time.
And maybe the reason for this is that we try to control what we cannot.
Other people.
The outcome.
The future.
I think this is what Epictetus means when he says “the more we value things outside our control, the less control we have.”
How can we control what we have control over…
… when we’re distracted by the things we don’t?
We can’t.
So, our thoughts run amok.
Our actions are on auto-pilot.
And we worry, and fret and go crazy
Over the aspects of life we cannot control.
Not today.
Not ever.
Pretty crazy, huh?!?
